A membership drive is underway for the Johnson County Historical Society. The dues are as follows: Single Membership, $10; Family Membership, $25; Child Membership, $5; Business Membership, $50. The historical society is in the process of remodeling the Grice House to accommodate the Chamber of Commerce offices. This will enable the historical society to house a museum at the Grice House and have someone available to operate it. All membership donations are tax deductible and should be mailed to P.O. Box 87, Wrightsville, GA 31096.

Not sure if the Johnson County Department of Health would have it. Georgia’s Department of Public Health says the following:
“Georgia Vital Records issues certified copies of Georgia birth certificates, which are typically acceptable for passport, social security, employment, personal identification and other legal purposes.

    Who Can Order?
You may order copies of Georgia birth certificates for yourself, your child, your current spouse or a parent. If you are the certificate holder’s legal guardian or legal representative, you will need to fax proof of entitlement to 404.524.4278”

Looking for a birth certificate for my maternal grandmother, likely born in Johnson County in 1917-1918. I will be in the area Thanksgiving week and am wondering if there might be some assistance available either then or before (via email) to help in locating possible records.

    MANY thanks!
