When I Was A Boy is the story of a man who has both fond memories and some not so fond memories of his life as a child during the Great Depression. While growing up in his hometown of Wrightsville, Georgia during the 1930′s, the author explains the responsibilities he had to shoulder even as a child not in his teens yet, for example having to chop fire wood to help heat his house at night, delivering newspaper to citizens in his community, and also perfoming other tasks that most young kids today could not imagine. This is truly a must read for anyone who remembers the Great Depression.
