Better Hometown held a historical art coloring contest for the Johnson County Elementary School Kindergarten classes.  The contest was to draw attention to Wrightsville’s historic buildings and to educate the children about buildings’ importance to our past and to our future.  The project was coordinated with Principal Rebecca Thomas, who introduced the contest to the kindergarten students.  All of the art work will be displayed in a scrap book inside the courthouse.  Everyone is encouraged to come and see what a talented group of kindergarteners JohnsonCounty has.

First Place Winner was Nicholas Jackson, Second Place Winner was Josey Scott, and Third Place Winner was Gracie Foskey. All three students are in Ms. Deborah Durden’s class.

Better Hometown provided great Dairy Queen Prizes for the winners.  We would like to thank Principal Rebecca Thomas for her support, the kindergarten teachers, and all the students who colored historic buildings for the contest.  We feel like they are all winners!

Sister and brother duo, Rachael and Brett Allen were elected President and Vice President of the 2012-13 Southeast District Senior 4-H Board recently at a Project Achievement Conference at Rock Eagle. Arch Smith, Georgia’s State 4-H leader said, “I believe Johnson County has made 4-H history. Never before in Georgia 4-H history as far as I know, have a brother and sister been elected to the top two spots on a Senior 4-H Board.” Congratulations to these energetic Johnson County High School students for going after and capturing this honor! (Rachael and Brett are the children of Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy Allen of Wrightsville.)
